A coastal Maine wedding at the historic 1774 Inn in Phippsburg

Amanda & Florian may be deeply, madly, joyfully in love with each other – but they also feel that way about the 1774 Inn in Phippsburg, Maine, where they had their dream wedding. They LOVE Maine, being outdoors, smelling the ocean, snuggling by the water – so it was pretty clear they wanted to get married there. Advised by her family not to choose somewhere TOO far north into rural Maine, the couple decided to visit the 1774 Inn. It was a freezing cold day, and they joked that all they wanted was a hot beverage by a crackling fire. When they arrived at the inn, they were greeted by the owners with hot cider and invited to come sit by the fireplace. They were smitten.

Fast forward to the perfect 75 degree Saturday in July, Amanda & Flo said I do in front of their 100 guests, who traveled from all over the world to celebrate with them. We arrived at a private beach in Phippsburg for couple portraits, and upon seeing the ocean, Amanda flung off her heels and sprinted towards the ocean, with the sand between her toes and Florian in hand, and screamed, “THIS IS WHAT I WANTED!!! THIS IS MAINE!!!”

There was not one but TWO German family singalongs, on the ukulele and the kazoo, too. Kids played with bubble wands, there were lawn games during cocktail hour, and they celebrated the end of their first dance with a rose petal toss down the steps of the barn. The night ended on an extra sweet note with TONS of homemade pie, fresh jars of jam to take home, and a beautiful cake made by the owner of the Inn (a fantastic husband and wife team, accompanied by the talented and beloved event coordinator Marianne).
