In-home family session in Weston, MA

This was one of my favorite family sessions EVER! The L Family had just moved into their new home less than a week before our shoot, so I visited them and the too-cute Winston outside the city. Winston showed me his favorite toys (Legos) and his room, played in the backyard, explored the retired train tracks in the woods, and (sort of) shared some cookies, too!

I will definitely be recommending in-home sessions to parents - the kids are happy and relaxed at home, they can show off their favorite games and toys, and make memories in their favorite place. So enjoy this session, friends - I sure did!

Mother's Day family shoot in Boston

Who has brown hair, runs faster than a cheetah, and wrestles like they're in the WWE Under 11 competition? Kate + Luke! These fantastic kids joined their parents to Boston on Mother's Day to commemorate the end of a chapter and the start of a new one. They're moving across the country in a few weeks, and wanted to give their last goodbyes to Boston. These two were even sillier than they were three years ago when I last photographed them for Kate's 8 year portraits. What I love about parents Brad + Angie is that they agree with my favorite motto: let kids be kids. Let the kids run wild on shoots, because before you know it, they'll be in their high school grad caps giving wonderful teenage attitude. Embrace the silly. Rock it.

Sidenote: Angie is also the fabulous small business owner of Brule Handmade Caramels! I did devour the bag in three days and it was oh so amazing. I'd highly suggest ordering some for yourself, and learn from my mistake and just go for the big bag.

The S Family // December giggles

For Bill, Cat, and Zachary, their third time was certainly a charm <3 From my first time meeting Bill and Cat and their big baby bump the MFA, to spending the morning in their home a few weeks after Zachary’s birth accompanied by their other, furrier four-legged child, these two have just been the sweetest. I can say with confidence that no client has ever offered to make me an omelette during a shoot.

Fast forward many months, and Zachary is 10 months old today, actually! The S Family took a trip to the Arboretum and gave little Zachary kisses, hugs, snuggles, and helped him fly through the air like a super baby. Zachary loves to people watch, crunch plastic water bottles and rip the labels off, and snuggle with his favorite stuffed animal. Show some love for this little nugget!

The R & L Families // Fun at the Fens

"Cousins are those childhood playmates who grow up to be forever friends"

What do you get when you combine two toddlers, four parents, crackers, ducks, and fire trucks? The coolest day ever!!! I had the immense pleasure of not only shooting the L family again (remember Winston in August?), but I got to meet Kristine’s sister Sofia, her husband Chris, and little Winston’s cousin Charlotte! And to my utter delight, the H family came speaking French, too. There is nothing cuter than a toddler who also totally knows French. “Bisou, bisou!” shouted the adults to little Winston & Charlotte. The two were enthralled by the geese at the Fens, who decided to be friendly this weekend! The cousins clearly loved each other - holding hands, laughing, kisses, playing games, and whenever Winston found something fun to do, he would yell, “Come on Charlotte!” in his adorable almost two year old voice. It was a crazy, wild session full of non-stop laughs, baby squeals, giggles, snuggles, and so much love. Yay for double family shoots!

The W Family // Harper in Boston

And she's baaaack! Miss Harper Deb and her parents traveled into Boston last weekend for a fall shoot. I'm lucky to say this was my third time shooting with Amy & Kevin, as I fell in love with the two of them even before Harper existed. Watching #harperdeb grow up via Instagram has been awesome. I love technology almost solely for the fact that I get to keep up with my clients' lives! But finally, I got to meet the Harper that talked, and could walk on her own, and was a big girl!

Harper has a fiery, bubbly personality - she's super smart, loves to play dress up, and just embodies everything it is to be a kid. She looks at things (and people) very inquisitively, and isn't afraid to run around and giggle and laugh and play tag. Harper chased her daddy, fearlessly climbed trees, and taught me the true value of goldfish as a bargaining tool for a two year old. Harper, everyone! XO

It IS Throwback Thursday, after all.

It IS Throwback Thursday, after all.

The G Family // Mason & Nolan's Boston Adventure

Mason & Nolan, almost three, who stand a bit above knee level, were the coolest part of last Saturday. These two giggle bugs absolutely nailed their session - braving the very unfortunately frigid weather, laughing and throwing leaves, flying higher than the John Hancock building, and giving their mommy & daddy hugs and kisses. Enjoy these twins and their fall fun!

Carly & Tucker // 26 days old

"There are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared: twins."

Joanna & Ryan… one of my favorite special couples. I photographed their engagement at one of their favorite parks, and their wedding at the historic Pierce House on a beautiful spring day. And a year later… they got the wonderful news that they were expecting… not one, but TWO! On September 10th, Joanna gave birth to Carly Louise Elizabeth & Tucker Jeffery, weighing in at 5 lbs 11.5 oz and 5 lbs 5.5 oz, respectively. Miss Carly was born one minute before her brother!

Seeing these two babies snuggled up together was incredible. Their little noises, their tiny fingers, the rise and fall of their tummies when they slept. I can’t wait to see these two grow.

The B Family // Peaches and picnics

Throwback: Branson as a teeny tiny baby and his gorgeous new parents!

Throwback: Branson as a teeny tiny baby and his gorgeous new parents!

Oh, how I love watching little ones grow up. Last week was the third time I have had the pleasure of shooting this amazing family! Not to mention, spending a year with the amazing Mrs. B as her English student in high school. I must say, I watch my grammar (to my best ability) and sentence structure on this blog because I know she reads it! :)

The B family is always fantastic. Ah, sweet morning giggles. They all came out to play t dawn, which happens to be earlier than we all think. Branson & Leila were not only super awake, but LAUGHING and giggling at our little apple adventure! Although it was a little early for a REAL picnic, we pretended, and had a tickle fight instead. Little B sure did beat me in a race. Give it up for this amazing family!

The M Family // Orchard giggles

"The informality of family life is a blessed condition that allows us to become our best while looking our worst."

I've been LOVING the families coming my way this August - the sweetest moms and dads with the cutest little buttons. No exception to this, Miss Evie and Little Mister Ollie were SUPER bubbly at their sunset orchard shoot. I also mean that literally - Evie was the bubble master, and with a concentrated stare, she worked the electric bubble wand to its full potential. With all of his few teeth, Ollie couldn't stop laughing.

Show these little cherubs some love!

The L Family // City snuggles

"When you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses."

Everyone, meet Winston. A 19 month old Cambridge native, a cherub full of serious, contemplative faces and legs that can outrun a grown adult. He shared his love of feeding the ducks with us, and went puddle jumping and danced in the street. Winston might as well become a pilot, because he knows how to catch some serious air when his mom or dad launches him into the sky. Gravity catches up with him, and so do the giggles.

From the minute I met them after two months of planning, we clicked instantly - and Alex & Kristine and their adventurous, adorable son really did give me warm fuzzies all over. These people are AWESOME! Show them some love for their Boston session that they rocked.

The O Family // Boys will be boys

After weeks of planning, Lori, Craig, and the boys showed up to their shoot super excited and ready to rock and roll! The boys stepped up their silly game - they filled me in on all their most impressive potty words, zoomed an airplane through the field, made a game plan just in case we saw a bear, and outran me even when they didn't get a head start ;) Enjoy their photographs! It's always such a treasure to remember the times like these.

The O Family // Feat. Norrie & Tess

"Every cliche about kids is true; they grow up so quickly, you blink and they're gone, and you have to spend the time with them now. But that's a joy."

There's always something extra fun about repeat clients, and even more when your client was your English teacher! Mr. & Mrs. O arrived for another shoot with me three years after the first, sporting a very grown up Norrie and a brand new Miss Tess!!! It was nugget central at the field that night, as two of the cutest kids in the universe giggled at bubbles, tripped over hundreds of yellow flowers, and were thrown up in the air time after time. Did I mention the entire family had matching Converse? Too cute!

I had so much fun getting all sweaty shooting in the July sunshine, and it's a safe bet the girls slept pretty well that night. The O Family, everyone!

Bill & Cat // Expecting at the Museum of Fine Arts

On Sunday morning, I had the pleasure of meeting Bill & Cat - it was a gorgeously sunny day, warmer than usual for the middle of winter, and an absolutely perfect day for a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston for a maternity shoot. We got lost in Europe trying to navigate through the corridors to the Modern Art wing, but alas we got there eventually. "Are we in America yet? Is this STILL Europe??"

It was such a unique and majestic location for Baby Zachary's pre-birthday debut - hopefully he had as much fun as we all did!

I'm so excited to meet this little one in a few weeks! Wishing all the best to the soon-to-be new Mom & Dad.

The G Family // October sunshine

My one and only family session of the fall back home. Sad but exciting - I've been very busy and happy in Boston, and last year, I went home almost every weekend. I never really adjusted to school. So this year, I just stopped going back! I have so much fun spending my weekends in the darkroom, bouncing around the city, enjoying the weather while I can. I painfully have had to turn down 15+ seniors, families, etc because of the lack of transportation options and all the darkroom work I have to do here.

However... I got a lovely request from one of my beloved art teachers from high school, Mrs. G!!! How could I not?! I remember when she was pregnant with Gideon Atlas (best name ever), teaching us how to draw still lifes, having Mr. Hardy for most of the next year when she went on maternity leave. Well, fast forward a few years, and there's another beautiful baby boy! I had so much fun meeting her family and traumatizing Gideon when I told him I was going to eat his Kix. Nah, he had a ton of fun. I suppose the newest member of the family didn't have such a good time though... it's hard being 3 months old, after all.

Here's to a GORGEOUS family full of art & optometry running through their veins ;)

Harper // Dandelion kisses

Two words: Harper. Deb.

I photographed Amy & Kevin almost two years ago at Duxbury Beach, and with their pup, Scout - a few days later they found out they were expecting! Fast forward and we get Miss Harper Deb, cutest nugget baby on the East coast! I've been following Amy on Instagram since H was born, and I love all her pictures, videos and funny hashtags all starring #harperdeb. We finally got together for an orchard shoot, and needless to say, it was amazing. Half the sky was blue with clouds, the other was navy blue erupting any moment with a storm. We had some beautiful light, and as we walked out of the orchard and back to the car, it started down pouring, running to the car as Harper bounced in her mom's arms squealing laughing. We had a ton of fun eating the dandelions and playing with Mommy & Daddy! Well... Harper, not me... I'm very much past the dandelion eating stage of my life.

Warning... cuteness overload!

Olive Grace // Five Days Old

It's my pleasure to introduce Miss Olive Grace at five days old! What a lovely girl she was. Olive is such a little beauty, and was too good for her session! I'm a spoiled newborn photographer. She slept most the time and when she did wake up, she whined sweetly for 2 or 3 minutes until daddy picked her up again. I love the ones of her grandmother holding her little hands... family is everything, and Olive is lucky to be the newest past of this wonderful one! Mommy & Daddy (and Grandma), you guys are just so lovely! Xo

Enjoy her rosy little lips, bitty feet and ADORABLE yawn!

Ava & Lily // Playdate No. 2

Ava & Lily were in the house today (literally!) and they sure did rock their session. I was driving around town like a nut last minute getting cakes, cupcakes, candles, flowers, you name it. Barb & I got the house set up (mostly Barb actually) for these peanuts! During our 3 1/2 hour time together (amazing that the girls lasted that long...) - there was laughing. There was running, there were tutus. There was lots of pink. There was also lots of frosting. There was jumping on the bed and tickling tummies & toes. There was shrieking and crying. Lots of crying. There was squealing and yelling and meltdowns and happy girlies and coloring and high heels and there was F U N ! I had an incredible time. And the girls were more than fabulous. The little divas... almost 3 years old! See what fun our playdate was.

With kisses,

Ava & Lily // Playdate No. 1

Ava & Lily, two year old twins (although they seem much older!) - they're TWO cute! (bad joke?)

The two came with their awesome mommy to the studio for an evening of playtime! Lily jumped on board, but Ava was a little shy. After seeing the awesome outfit her sister got to wear though... she came around. We picked and ate some yummy apples in the backyard orchard. Lily was SO giggly! After that, we drove to the pond, and ran races in the woods. There may have been some tripping and falling... but the girls are troopers! We finished on the beach - that's when the real miss Ava came out! She was running around in her tutu like a little queen laughing and talking and having a grand time. They wouldn't get off the slide...the sun pretty much went all the way down by the time we pried them off the slide. "Are you watching?!" "YES!"

We all slept well that night.
