Paula & Jerry // A rustic inspired New Hampshire Wedding

"Whatever our souls are made up, his and mine are the same"

Rewind six years, yes SIX now, to my first ever “real" shoot. I had booked my first client ever - Paula and her best friend Lisa teamed up with both their families and hired me. Paula’s little man Elijah was just walking, not talking yet, with the cutest smirk and a love for blueberries. When I got an email from her asking me to be her wedding photographer - I was thrilled!

Jerry is the sweet icing to Paula’s gluten free cupcake. The two are so silly in love - I loved watching them interact with each other on their day. After they got dressed, they walked into the ballroom, laughed about their cake topper, and hugged. It was so natural, no grand first look, no tears down the aisle, but two best friends happy to see each other again and excited for their party to come.

They were married on a stormy July day - one of those days that the sun can’t make up its mind. It poured on the scenic drive to New Hampshire, the sun came out for their portraits, clouds rolled in during the ceremony, and it downpoured as we wrapped up family portraits. The lightning was cracking as I ran at top speed to catch up with P&J under their umbrella… until I ran my face right into it. I was drenched, but Jerry couldn’t stop laughing, so it was all for a good cause.

One of the things I loved most about their day were the details - twine laced mason jars, burlap wrapped candles, tree trunk cake stand, wooden pencils, vintage bottle opener keys… most of which the bride made herself!

Paula’s family is Portuguese, and she brought traditional music and dancing into her reception. Trust me, it didn’t take much to get her guests dancing, dancing, DANCING!

So much love to the bride & groom; may your days be silly, loving, exciting, and full of the best gift in the world - family.

Thank you to the amazing vendors!
