"True love doesn't happen right away; it's an ever-growing process. It develops after you've gone through many ups and downs, when you've suffered together, cried together, laughed together."
Almost a decade ago, Patrick showed up to Porter Belly’s bar adorned in a giant fake-gold dollar-sign pendant necklace and matching three-finger dollar sign ring. Not to be outdone, Dawn was wearing a maroon t-shirt with the words “Buy me a beer” painstakingly ironed on the back of it. So Patrick followed the directions, bought Dawn a beer, and the rest, as they say, is history.
After countless Date Night Fridays, walks around the neighborhood, Sunday mornings singing at Church, and family outings with Patrick’s boys, Patrick returned to the scene of the crime years later to surprise her with a diamond ring.
On their November wedding day, the sun was shining, the breeze was kicking up the colored leaves, and excitement was in the air. They hand picked every element of their ceremony mass at their local parish, sealing their love with a kiss many times. Patrick & Dawn kissed in the last hour of beautiful winter light as the wind and sun kissed them back. His sons were his best men, and before dinner, his youngest son gave toast. Yes, a nice, browned piece of toast. Best. Ever.
Two two danced their behinds off at the reception, laughed with all their family and friends, and cried a bit, to. Here’s to years and years of happiness and love to this very special couple. Patrick & Dawn, I raise a shirley temple to you with a million hugs and all the love in the world.
