The past few days, I've been stumbling upon photographer after photographer. Amazing photographers... young ones. The last 3 people to shoot for Free People were 18, 19, and 20. It sent me spinning into a frenzy like always... why can't I be doing that? How are THEY getting these commercial jobs? My work certainly isn't good enough. And just like that, all my confidence is crushed and I'm back to sitting on my bed, putting my feelings into overpriced Chinese takeout.
I told Barb, and she relayed a quote to me: "Work really hard at what you want as if someone else is working 24/7 to take it away from you."
That got my attention... immediately I messaged people and lined up 5 girls, for 5 shoots, in the next 5 days. If I never end up shooting campaigns for these companies I dream about, that's life. But I will know that I did everything in my power to make it happen. To be a mover and a shaker. To strive to be better like someone is working just as hard to take it away from me.
This was last night's impromptu shoot with the wonderful Ashley.
I'm back home in Boston, getting into my groove again. Stay tuned for some wild shoots. I'm excited for what the future holds.
All my love.
